Product Catalog
The Product Catalog is the heart of your portal. It contains all the product information that DistiForge has extracted from your data sources, organized and ready to be published for your portal visitors.
How Products Get Into the Catalog
When you add a data source and DistiForge processes it, the AI reads through each document and automatically identifies products. For each product it finds, it extracts key information including:
Product name
Part number
Product family or series
Category
Technical specifications
Product variants and ordering codes
The source document the product came from
This happens automatically whenever a data source is processed. You do not need to do anything to trigger it beyond setting up the data source.
Product Status: Draft and Published
Every product in the catalog has one of two statuses:
Draft The product has been extracted but is not yet visible to portal visitors. All newly extracted products start as drafts.
Published The product is live in the portal and visible to users with appropriate access.
This two-step process gives you a chance to review and clean up products before they go live. You are in control of what portal visitors see.
Browsing and Searching the Catalog
Navigate to Product Catalog within your portal to see all products.
You can filter and search the list using:

Search bar Find products by name, part number, description, or specification values
Status Show only drafts or only published products
Confidentiality Level Filter by access tier (Public, Internal, NDA, or any custom levels you have set up)
Editing a Product
To edit a product, click its name in the catalog list to open the product detail page. All fields are editable:
Name — The product's display name
Part Number — The manufacturer's part number
Product Family — The series or family this product belongs to
Category — The product category (linked to your taxonomy)
Description — A longer description of the product
Specifications — Key-value pairs of technical details; you can add, edit, or remove individual entries
Image — A product image
Datasheet — A link to the primary datasheet
Additional Documents — Any other related documents
Confidentiality Level — Override the level inherited from the source document
Click Save to apply your changes. If the product is already published, changes are reflected in the portal immediately.
To enable portal features, you need to create an AI assistant once you have your products included

Publishing Products
When you are ready to make products visible in the portal:
To publish a single product:
Open the product detail page.
Click Publish.

To publish multiple products at once:
In the catalog list, check the boxes next to the products you want to publish.
Click Publish Selected.
Confirm.
To publish all draft products:
Check the box in the header row to select all products on the current page.
Click Publish Selected.
Product Version History
DistiForge keeps a full history of every change made to a product. You can use this to see what changed, who changed it, and roll back to an earlier version if needed.

From the product detail page, open the Version History tab to:
View a list of all saved versions with timestamps and author names
See what changed between any two versions
Restore a previous version (this creates a new version entry — your history is never lost)
Publish a specific version
This is useful when you want to experiment with edits or need to undo a change.
Changing a Product's Category
If a product was placed in the wrong category during extraction, you can reassign it:
Open the product detail page.
Click the Category field.
Select the correct category from the category tree.
Save.
The product moves to the new category immediately. This does not trigger re-extraction or affect any other product data.
Confidentiality Levels
Each product is assigned a confidentiality level that controls which portal users can see it. The level is inherited from the source document when the product is extracted, but you can override it on any individual product.
Public
All portal visitors, including unauthenticated users
Internal
Authenticated users with Internal or higher access
NDA
Only users with NDA-level access
Custom levels follow the same logic — users see content at their access tier and everything below it.
To change a product's level, open the product and edit the Confidentiality Level field. This override applies to that product only and does not affect other products from the same source document.
